Student Health Service Provides Free Flu Shots for Students

The Student Health Service seeks to vaccinate students against the threat of flu by bringing flu shots to University events.

Every year millions of Americans miss work or school due to the flu, and while doctors recommend that people get flu shots, many students often forget to go get theirs.  To help ensure that students are protected against the flu, the Student Health Service is teaming up with organizations and departments across campus to take the flu shots to the students.  Representatives from the Student Health Service will set up shop at events and locations across campus to meet students where they live, work, eat, and play.  Students are eligible for a free flu shot if they have a valid UChicago ID Card.

As the weather changes and the flu season kicks into high gear, encourage your student to get their flu shot.  Visits to high traffic areas and those living in close quarters are especially susceptible to flu to exposure, and when you add in Chicago's notoriously fickle weather, you get a recipe for illness if students don't protect themselves.  Students can find a full list of free flu shot opportunities by checking out the SHS Flu Map.  For additional questions about flu shots on campus or other issues related to student health, visit the Student Health Service website, studenthealth.uchicago.edu.
